Resignation Announcements
To the Arlington Community,
After proudly serving the youth and families of Arlington, Ohio for over 16 years, we—Shawn Griggs, President and Mark Russell, Treasurer—have made the heartfelt decision to step down from our roles with the Arlington Rec Council.
Since 2009, it has been our privilege to help guide and grow an organization rooted in service, community, and the development of our children through youth athletics. Together, we’ve witnessed countless moments of teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth—on and off the field. These experiences have not only shaped the lives of our young athletes but have also deeply enriched our own.
In addition to the leadership roles of President and Treasurer, we also need to fill the position of Baseball Commissioner, currently held by Dr. Jon Davis. Dr. Davis has been a dedicated advocate for youth baseball in Arlington for the past several years, and we are grateful for his service. As part of our transition, we are seeking a new commissioner who is passionate about baseball and committed to continuing the tradition of excellence in our baseball program.
The Arlington Rec Council was founded with a clear mission: to serve the children of our community by fostering their physical and mental development through sports. We’ve strived to uphold the values of honesty, loyalty, courage, respect, and good sportsmanship in every practice, game, and season. It has been an honor to help create a safe and encouraging environment where children could learn, grow, and thrive.
Now, we believe it is time for new, innovative, and community-minded volunteers to take the reins and continue building upon the foundation we’ve laid.
If you are interested in stepping into a leadership role with the Arlington Rec Council, please contact Shawn Griggs at [email protected] with your statement of interest, including any relevant leadership experience or financial record keeping literacy.
We are committed to staying on for one final year to ensure a smooth and thoughtful transition. During this time, we will provide training, guidance, and support to those who step forward to lead the next chapter of the Arlington Rec Council.
However, if no volunteers come forward to fill all the positions by the end of this transition period, we will be faced with the difficult decision to officially close the organization. In that event, any remaining funds will be donated to the Village of Arlington, in accordance with our charitable purpose.
We extend our deepest gratitude to every parent, coach, volunteer, and supporter who has stood beside us over the years. Your dedication and passion have been the heartbeat of this organization. We are proud of what we’ve accomplished together and hopeful for what lies ahead.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve. It has truly been an honor.
With sincere appreciation,
Shawn Griggs, Mark Russell, & Dr. Jon Davis
